Self Magazine

The purpose of this week’s magazine rack article, 8 Ways To Think Like An Athlete by Sheila Monaghan from Self Magazine, is to give you a different perspective on your body.  Most of us run to the gym to lose weight and that makes them feel better but if you think about your body the way an athlete does, it may give you a more motivational and stable outlook on what you’re actually able to accomplish in the gym!

Magazine Rack

This week’s article on the Magazine Rack is from Fitness Magazine titled Postcard From The Edge – by Claudia Lebenthal.

This personal essay from author and skier Claudia Lebenthal is an account of her experience happening upon a challenging slope, one she most likely would not have ventured to had she heard about its terrain.  But with no turning back she had no choice but to take a risk and reach a new personal level.  While on the mountain she waited to see other more experienced skiers and a young college kid came by.  When she asked him some pointers and that this wasn’t quite her level, he said to her “Well, you’re skiing it, Its your level now.”

That moment changed her life. Check out the article to find out how! And the moral of this story, never let any new fitness challenge scare you (with caution). You usually come out the other side a stronger, more confident person, not only in your workouts but in your every day life!
